Made by Hands

Meet The Maker

The women artisans of Nagaland, skilled in traditional backstrap (loin loom) weaving, craft each piece with deep-rooted cultural significance. Weaving is passed down through generations, with young girls learning the art from childhood.

Technique

Woven on a backstrap loom, one of the oldest weaving techniques, this method allows for intricate patterns but limits fabric width to 18-20 inches. Larger pieces are carefully stitched together, preserving the authenticity of this heritage craft.

Where It's Made

Handwoven in Nagaland, India, these textiles represent both tradition and resilience. Through initiatives like the Antaran program, artisans are reviving their craft and creating sustainable livelihoods.

No two pieces are alike—each carries the unique touch of the hands that created it. The slight variations in print and texture are a beautiful reminder of its handmade journey.
